Julianne Hough On Shaving Her Head, Disastrous First Date & Covering Ryan Seacrest’s Eyes During Safe Haven Love Scenes

Julianne Hough made headlines this week over her confession that “one day” she plans to shave her head.

However, don’t mourn the blonde’s locks just yet – she won’t be going the way of Miley’s pixie cut anytime soon!

“I’ve always had this obsession about [shaving my head],” the gorgeous “Safe Haven” star explained to Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live. “I think it’s more to make my hair healthy and just to like, start over. I grew up as a toe-head blonde, but I’ve had so many chemicals in it now.

Adding, “I’m not doing it, ladies and gentleman – just letting you know, but it’s been like, a fantasy to shave my head.”

Beyond talk of her hair, Julianne said she had a blast working alongside the handsome Josh Duhamel in “Safe Haven” (the big screen adaptation of Nicolas Sparks’ best-selling romance novel), but admitted watching their steamy scenes at the screening with boyfriend Ryan Seacrest in tow was a bit awkward.

“I was so uncomfortable. I just got lower and lower in my seat!” she said with a laugh. “I was covering [Ryan’s] eyes. [And] my dad was sitting next to Ryan!”

While the men in her life may not have been entirely enthused about watching the dancer/actress heat up with Josh, Julianne’s sisters certainly weren’t complaining about getting an eyeful of the “Transformers” hunk.

“I leaned over and looked at my sisters and they were like… very excited,” she said.

Though the “Dancing with the Stars” champ is now happily off the market (Julianne revealed her “American Idol” host beau will be handling all of the couple’s Valentine’s Day plans), she wasn’t always confident in love.

“[I went on my] first date [at] 16. It was a basketball game at my high school and then I went up to the little makeout point and I got so nervous that I threw up!” she recalled.

“Did he kiss you anyway?” Billy asked.

“Yeah, it was actually pretty cute,” Julianne replied. “He sat next to me and he was like, ‘Well, is it something we can work on?’ And then he touched my hand and asked, ‘Are you OK?’ Then he like, put his arm around me and said, ‘Are you OK now?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ Then he kissed me on the cheek – ‘Are you OK?’ ‘Yeah, I’m OK.’

“So, it was kind of a smooth move,” she added.

Catch Julianne and Josh in “Safe Haven” – in theaters now.
