Just Call Her ‘Mama’ Spice: Mel B Gives Birth

There’s a new Baby Spice in the world – Mel B has given birth.

The British singer and judge on Australia’s “The X Factor” and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, welcomed a baby girl on Thursday evening.

“Finally our baby arrives,Stephen nearly passed out,Phoenix screamed,I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing,” Mel Tweeted early Friday morning.

“I wanna thank you ALL for your beautiful well wishes,it means a lot to me,you guys are the best,I am SOOOOOO blessed my heart is melting,” she added.

Mel previously told Access Hollywood she was going to give birth in the same Los Angeles hospital room her fellow Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, welcomed her fourth child, Harper Seven, earlier this summer.

“That’s what the lady told me when she showed me around,” Mel previously said as she gave AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman a tour of her baby nursery. “My kids area really excited to actually be in that room and know that one of the other Spice Girls had had their baby there too.”

The new little girl, whose name has not yet been revealed, is Mel’s third child. She also has a daughter – Phoenix Chi, 12 – with former Spice Girls backup dancer Jimmy Gulzar, and another daughter, Angel, 4, with actor Eddie Murphy.

Earlier this week, Mel told Sydney, Australia, radio station 2DayFM that she was eager to give birth.

“It’s coming out this week, one way or another it’s coming out this week,” she told radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

“Ideally, I want it to come naturally, but I’ve tried everything,” she continued. “I’ve tried the hot food, the this… the running, the sex, the violent — I’ve tried it all and, it just seems to be stuck and hibernating in there getting bigger and bigger, so it’s coming out this week for sure.”

Mel and Stephen married in 2007 in Las Vegas.

Stephen also has a daughter from a previous relationship, 6-year-old Giselle.
