Justin Theroux Talks ‘Shift’ Of Married Life, Says Jimmy Kimmel Cried At Wedding

Justin Theroux says he and wife Jennifer Aniston are adjusting well to married life.

“It’s fantastic,” the actor and screenwriter said, during an appearance on Wednesday’s “Good Morning America.”

Co-anchor Robin Roberts noted that the couple seems “different” since their Aug. 5 nuptials, and Justin acknowledged the change.

“Something really does shift in a wonderful way,” he said. “It sort of refocuses things. … It was a long time coming, but also put us in exactly the right space.”

The 44-year-old said the feeling isn’t easy to articulate or define, and perhaps shouldn’t be.

“It goes beyond having a ring on your finger or anything,” he said. “You relax into it in a certain way.”

The “Leftovers” star and his new bride, 46, wed in a surprise ceremony at their Bel-Air home in front of close friends and family, including Ellen DeGeneres, Portia DeRossi, Chelsea Handler, Jason Bateman, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Jen’s “Friends” co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.

Jimmy Kimmel was also among the guests, but had a more specific role to play. The late night host officiated the ceremony and, according to Justin, provided more than just comic relief.

“That was the biggest blessing in the world,” he said of his pal’s performance. “It was exactly what you would want him to do. He was extremely funny, kept things extremely light, was extremely touching, cried a little bit – he did … everyone did. It was the perfect tone for the night.”

Justin’s professional life also walks the line between laughter and tears. His HBO series “The Leftovers” is launching its second season on Oct. 4, and the actor will appear in the upcoming “Zoolander” sequel in 2016.

Justin said the cable drama’s sophomore effort, which focuses on the survivors of a mysterious mass disappearance, isn’t “as bleak as the first season.” However, he added, that doesn’t mean the show is shying away from its complicated themes.

“I’d like to say things normalize, but they just get a lot weirder,” the actor smiled.

As for his role in Ben Stiller’s male model comedy, Justin said that he’s leaving the runway moves to the experts.

“I don’t have a Blue Steel [look],” the actor laughed of the title character’s signature smirk. “I’m still perfecting it. And, there’s really only one guy who can do it.”

“The Leftovers” returns for Season 2 on Sunday, Oct. 4 on HBO. “Zoolander 2” hits theaters in 2016.
