Kara DioGuardi Heading To ‘The View,’ Talks Ellen On ‘Idol’

With Elisabeth Hasselbeck still out on maternity leave, “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi is the latest star to sign up for a guest co-hosting slot on “The View.”

Kara will guest co-host the show alongside regulars Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd on October 15. The appearance will be the first time Kara has co-hosted the show, but will mark her second visit to “The View’s” halls.

She last appeared on the show in May following the “American Idol” finale.

In related news, Kara said the ninth season of “Idol,” which begins next year is already shaping up to be a good one with some stellar contestants.

“They’re great,” Kara told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on Sunday’s Emmys red carpet. “We really have found some good talent in each city.”

New judge Ellen DeGeneres is expected to make her first appearance on “Idol” during Hollywood week, which films in January and Kara said Ellen will bring a lot to the judges’ panel.

“I think that she’s more than a comedian, I think she’s somebody who loves music,” Kara said. “I think what she brings to the table is star power, someone who’s been around for 20 years and is unforgettable, made her mark. And those kids, beyond just learning how to sing, have to get on that stage and be unforgettable and who better to tell them how to do that than a stellar star like Ellen?”

Kara revealed that where Ellen will sit on the panel is still being worked out.

“I want her to sit next to me ‘cause I want to dance with her,” Kara said. “She’s going to teach me some [moves]. My moves, I’ve got to tell you, [I’m a] better songwriter than dancer.”
