Karina Smirnoff: The Situation ‘Hasn’t Hit On Me… Am I A Grenade?’

Karina Smirnoff may have a boyfriend, but she’s surprised her lady-loving “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino, hasn’t trotted out his trademark pick-up lines.

“He hasn’t hit on me! And I’m taking it as an insult,” Karina joked with Access Hollywood Live’s Kit Hoover on Thursday. “Like, what am I? A grenade?”

In “Jersey Shore” speak, a grenade is a term for a woman who falls low on the attractive meter and while Karina definitely isn’t a grenade, she revealed she and The Sitch keep it cool in the practice room because the two have a familial relationship.

“We’re like brother and sister,” she said, before revealing they aren’t exactly like family. “We laugh, we definitely have some flirtatious kind of mystery.”

Karina, who lives close to Michael’s Jersey haunt in real life, said the MTV reality star and her own boyfriend – pro baseball player Brad Penny — have already bonded.

“They love each other and they exchanged phone numbers,” she said.

While things are going well between Brad and Michael, Karina revealed she approached Season 11 of “DWTS” with some trepidation as her former fiance – Maksim Chmerkovskiy – is still a castmember (dancing with Brandy).

“I was a little concerned about that coming into this season and that was one of the main reasons why I wanted last season off,” she told Kit. “It’s cool… It’s my job; I love what I do; I love dancing; I love choreographing and I get paid for it so it’s pretty much you know perfect scenario, perfect situation. I wish him all the best.”
