Kate Winslet Accepts Damages From UK Newspaper
Lawyers for Kate Winslet say the actress has accepted 25,000 pounds (more than $40,000) in damages after the Daily Mail falsely reported in January she lied about her exercise regime.
Winslet was not in court for Tuesday’s settlement, but through her lawyers said she wanted an apology “to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise.”

Kate Winslet Heading For TV With ‘Mildred Pierce’
Kate Winslet will star in the television miniseries “Mildred Pierce,” according to Variety.
The star, fresh off her Oscar win for the film “The Reader,” will play the title role in the latest adaptation of the James M. Cain novel. Kate’s role is that of a bored housewife who tries out the restaurant business – and gets more than she bargained for. A previous version, the 1945 film of the same name, won Joan Crawford an Oscar.
