Kate’s Sort Of Ex Charged With Drug Possession

LONDON (AP) — Pete Doherty was charged Thursday with seven counts of possessing drugs including cocaine and diamorphine, police said.

Doherty was in police custody and would appear in court Friday, the Metropolitan Police said. The 27-year-old Babyshambles singer has a string of previous drug arrests.

The latest charges come after he was stopped by police in a London street last week on suspicion of drug possession. The charges relate to that arrest and two other incidents earlier this year.

Doherty, an on-off boyfriend of Kate Moss, gained international attention after a British tabloid printed photographs of the supermodel allegedly using cocaine at a music studio where Doherty and his band were recording. No charges were brought against Moss.

Last month Doherty announced that he was canceling a scheduled concert and entering a drug rehabilitation clinic in his latest bid to quit drugs.
