Kathie Lee Gifford is back on daytime television as the co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today,” Access Hollywood has learned.
Gifford will join Hoda Kotb for the fourth hour of the news show, which is known for an off-the-cuff take on the topical news of the day.
“I am truly honored to join the ‘Today’ show family, many of whom have been friends and colleagues of mine for years,” Gifford said in a statement released to Access. “And I’m especially looking forward to working with Hoda, a bright and beautiful woman I admire very much. Together I hope we will bring a fresh and fun perspective to the topics that affect all of our daily lives.”
No stranger to morning news programs, Gifford co-hosted “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,” with Regis Philbin for 15 years, before leaving in July 2000.
Fans of Gifford and Philbin will not have to choose between the former co-hosts, as the fourth hour of “Today” begins as “Live Regis and Kelly” ends.
In recent years, Gifford has taken her talents to the stage writing the musicals “Saving Aimee,” “Under the Bridge,” and “HATS! The Musical,” in addition to dedicating her time to various humanitarian organizations.
Gifford will make her debut alongside Hoda Kotb at 10 AM on April 7, 2008.
