Kathy Griffin Prepares For Next ‘Fashion Police’: ‘Look Out!’

Kathy Griffin only just joined “Fashion Police,” but she is already preparing to up her game.

“The funniest thing is, I think the consensus was that people thought I was holding back a little bit,” Kathy told Access Hollywood at the Television Critics Association Winter Tour in Pasadena, Calif., when asked what viewers thought of her comments regarding Amal Clooney. “So, look out. I mean, you can’t tell me that I was holding back because it just… I fall for it. I’m gonna become worse.”

Kathy made headlines for her first “Fashion Police” appearance when she took aim at Amal’s white gloves and went on to say the lawyer was worst dressed of the night.

“I’m thrilled about the conversation started by the Amal glove talk,” Kathy told Access. “The gloves came off, literally. And actually, Amal took the gloves off before I took the gloves off. So Amal wore them on the red carpet and during the show, while she was pouting, did not have the gloves. So then, when I was hosting ‘Fashion Police,’ the gloves came back on. As they should. It’s my job.”

Like Joan Rivers, Kathy is bringing the funny to “Fashion Police,” and she said the late entertainer’s presence is felt on set.

“Joan is present on set because Melissa [Rivers] is [an] executive producer. So… this decision for me was very much driven by conversations with Melissa and we kind of had honest talks about it that were maybe more from an emotional point of view than to say, ‘Do you want the job? This is when it starts,'” Kathy recounted.

With awards season in full swing, Kathy said she is looking forward to more fashion hits and misses and the costume glamour of the Grammy awards.

“I’m looking forward to covering it on ‘Fashion Police,’ because I’ve been a nominee, I’ve been a winner, I’ve been on both sides of the carpet… but that doesn’t mean I’m going to hold back on fellow nominees or winners. Everybody’s on the market,” she said.

Asked if she is hoping for another an egg moment (like when Lady Gaga came down the Grammys red carpet inside of an egg-shaped contraption in 2011), Kathy said her fingers are crossed.

“I’m absolutely hoping for an egg and so is everyone. And that’s kind of my mission. I really like Keira Knightley in those butterflies — I think some of them were still alive, I don’t know — but we want to see something actually take flight like that,” she told Access. “I was there when the egg came right past me on the red carpet and I saw it crack open and I actually didn’t believe them when they said Gaga was in there, and she was.

“You’re darn right I’m looking for an egg. I’m looking for an omelet. I’m looking for a nice Croque Monsieur. I’m looking for the celebrities to make an arrival in a way that we can talk about. That’s why we watch it,” she said.

“Fashion Police” airs Monday at 9/8c on E!
