Katie Holmes On Playing Jackie O: ‘I’m Very Grateful’

Katie Holmes had much to celebrate as she attended last night’s premiere of “The Extra Man” in New York City, but she revealed to Access Hollywood how excited she is to star in the upcoming mini-series, “The Kennedys,” as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

“I’m really grateful for this role and I’ve always been a fan of Jacqueline Kennedy,” Katie said. “I’ve learned so much from my research and it’s such a pleasure to be a part of this.”

Known for her impeccable sense of style, Jackie O was a fashion icon and Katie said putting on the outfits was “thrilling” — including one very historic outfit: a replica designed by Armani of the pink two-piece suit Jackie O wore when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Photos from the movie’s set have been released and with her trademark short bob hairstyle, Katie shows an uncanny resemblance to the First Lady.

“The Kennedys,” which also stars Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson, will air as an eight-hour series on the History Channel in 2011.

“The Extra Man” stars John C. Reilly, Paul Dano and Kevin Kline and will have a limited release on July 30.
