Katy Perry’s hot new single is off to a “roaring” start, selling an astonishing 557,024 downloads in its first week of release.
The critically acclaimed single, “Roar”, exceeded sales expectations and set the stage for her highly anticipated album “PRISM” due out October 22. It is also the biggest digital sales week of any artist in 2013 and the best of Katy’s blockbuster career.
“Talk about an aptly named song! As impressive as these statistics are, it is the music Katy has created for ‘PRISM’ that will be embraced and remembered by millions of fans the world over,” Capitol Music Group Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett said on Wednesday. “’Roar’ is just the beginning of what will surely be an exciting, memorable and long run for Katy Perry and PRISM.”
Katy will perform the smash hit live for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday.
Since 2008, Katy has sold more than 50 million digital tracks and mobile products. She has also topped the charts in more than 25 countries and has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.
