Kellan Lutz Talks Love Of Action Films & New Fashion Line

“The Twilight Saga’s” Kellan Lutz, who has graced billboards in scintillating ads for Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch and countless others, is starring in a campaign for Abbot + Main – the brand new line for which Kellan is a model and designer.

But launching his own clothing line this week isn’t the North Dakota native’s only November endeavor.

Access Hollywood caught up with a dapper-looking Kellan at the event celebrating his Nylon Guys cover, where the actor talked fashion and his love for action movies – but kept mum on his personal life, despite being spotted canoodling later in the night with rumored girlfriend, “Step Up 3D” actress Sharni Vinson.

No stranger to action movies, Kellan is currently starring as a young Poseidon in “Immortals,” which dominated the box office this past weekend.

“‘Immortals’ is all action. I love action movies,” the 26 year-old actor told Access. “That’s really where I want to spearhead my career.”

Kellan remarked that growing up with so many brothers instigated his love for “pushing himself to the limit.”

“I have no tattoos, so scars are my tattoos,” Kellan told Access. “In fact I just messed up my hand big time while filming ‘Java Heat.’ It was my first time doing a practical action movie – which means they use real explosions!”

The actor said the hardest part about shooting action sequences is fighting –his urge to smile!

“We were doing the epic battle scene at the very end [of “Immortals], a long five-minute fight, but I was grinning ear to ear! They were like, ‘Kellan you’re a God, you’re about to kick a**, you can’t be smiling so much,’” he continued. “I really had to work on not smiling. Then they would push in [for a close up] and would say, ‘Kellan, you are smiling with your eyes…’ I was like, ‘What does that even mean?!”

The actor is excited that his next post-“Twilight” project, “A Warrior’s Heart,” which he shot over three year ago with fellow “Twilight” alum Ashley Green, will finally be released on December 2.

“It’s a cute movie. It’s funny when those movies come out years after you do it,” Kellan said. “So finally it comes out and everyone’s going to see it and it’s like ‘Wow, I’m young in that!’”

Though Kellan is well on his way to his desired action star status, it might take a little more convincing to establish himself in the fashion industry.

“I have always loved fashion, but I have no expertise in it besides being a model,” the star said.

A longtime fan of Danny Guez’s Dylan George jeans, Kellan co-created Abbot + Main with the designer’s help and experience.

“I’m learning from a high caliber, true genius,” Kellan said of the designer. “I didn’t want me to be the face of some product I wouldn’t actually wear. If we were going to do this, I wanted to learn everything that Danny had to teach. Even if it failed, I’d still have something that I’d wear!”

The actor, who sported Dylan George jeans, Ray Ban glasses and a colorful knit top straight from his “Abbot + Main” menswear collection at the event, raved about his new line.

“It feels good on. You can move in it,” he said, insisting we cop a feel of his cashmere sleeve. “It’s all about the quality of the fabric, how soft it is and feeling comfortable in what you’re wearing.”

Kellan’s neighborhood in Venice inspired the “bright colors” that make up the Abbot + Main menswear collection of t-shirts and knitwear.

Don’t worry girls, Kellan’s line has sexy, female-layered looks arriving early next year.

“A woman looks her sexiest when she feels comfortable in what she’s wearing,” he added. “That’s what I hope to capture with the female line.”

Abbot + Main will debut its line of luxury female separates in Spring 2012.
