Kelly Clarkson Compares Dating To ‘American Idol’: ‘The Worst Ones Are The Most Confident’

Original “American Idol” Kelly Clarkson recently told fans (via Facebook) that she “can’t wait to find a man who thinks [she’s] freakin’ awesome!”

With a breathtaking voice and over 23 million albums sold, the question is – why is the superstar singer having trouble in the relationship department?

“The problem isn’t getting offers — the problem is getting offers from someone you like, you know?” Kelly explained to Access Hollywood when asked about her relationship woes during an interview in Los Angeles on Thursday. “It’s really hard to find.”

The 29-year-old Texas native, whose new single, “Mr. Know It All,” dropped last month, compared dating to the reality competition that spawned her fame.

“I recently said — I think it was last night to my manager — I was like, ‘You know what the problem is? It’s like an ‘American Idol’ audition. The worst ones are the most confident,’” she told Access. “And the same thing goes for my dating life. The worst guys are the most confident with me.

“And the ones you want to ask you out are intimidated, so yeah, it’s not fun,” she added. “Dating is hard!”

With her fifth studio album set to drop in October, Kelly has worked with numerous fellow artists since her big “Idol” win in 2002. However, the singer revealed she hopes to collaborate with a few certain music stars in the future, including Adele, who she dubbed her current “favorite.”

“I’d love to work with a lot of people… I love Adele,” she said. “I love what Justin Timberlake did with Reba McEntire on her duet album — I love how different that was. So I’d love to do something with him one day.

“I just like how he thinks — it’s a little different,” she continued. “Like, he never comes up with the same thing.”

Kelly’s new album, “Stronger,” is slated to hit stores on October 24.
