Kelly Clarkson: ‘I Get Hit On By The Hottest Girls’

Kelly Clarkson has long been plagued by gay rumors – but the original “American Idol” winner doesn’t mind.

And while the buzz is slowly beginning to die down (as the “Catch My Breath” crooner is now engaged to her boyfriend), Kelly said she’s never been bothered by whispers about her sexuality. In fact, she’s flattered!

“I get hit on by the hottest girls ever,” Kelly told Cosmopolitan for their February issue. “Oh my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it’s just not my thing. I’ve always batted for the boys’ team.”

The 30-year-old singer, who got engaged to music manager Brandon Blackstock last month, isn’t sure why people tend to think she’s into the ladies, but said the rumors probably began after she was unattached for a period of six years.

“People think, ‘Oh, she’s been single for too long,’” she told the mag. “That’s kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay. But I’m never insulted by it, obviously.”

And it’s not just the ladies who are drawn to Kelly.

The singer said she gets her fair share of pickup lines from men – but usually from men she’d never entertain the thought of dating.

“I get hit on by both [sexes]. But usually the guys who hit on me are tools,” she said. “It’s the ones that don’t hit on you that make you like, ‘Why didn’t you ask me out?’ It’s like ‘American Idol’ auditions: The guys who are the most confident are the horrible ones, and the ones who are good have no confidence at all.”

Fortunately, Kelly hit the jackpot with her fiancé, who she said was worth the wait.

“I’ve never been truly loved like I am right now,” she said.
