Kelly Preston To Open Up About The Loss Of Son Jett Travolta At Women’s Conference

Kelly Preston is expected to open up publicly about the loss of son Jett Travolta for the first time at a Women’s conference this fall.

Preston, whose 16-year-old son died while the Travolta family was on vacation in the Bahamas over New Year’s, will speak about her loss during the “Grief & Resilience” panel at the California Governor’s Conference for Women, in late October.

“If she can empower one other woman who feels like they can’t get out of bed, or get through the day, whatever the loss, it’ll be worthwhile sharing her story,” Maria Shriver who hosts the conference, told People.

Preston, the wife of John Travolta, will be joined on the panel by John Edward’s wife Elizabeth and actress Susan St. James. Both women have lost sons too.

“Their goal is, ‘If I can help one other woman through this then it will be worth it,’” Shriver, the wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, said.

Kate Gosselin, from TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” will also speak for 15 minutes at the conference. She was invited to speak at the event prior to beginning divorce procedures against her husband of 10 years, Jon Gosselin.

“I think her life has certainly changed dramatically, but so be it,” Shriver told the Associated Press about the reality TV mom.. “I think that’s the beauty of this conference — to have Madeleine Albright and Kate Gosselin at the same place.”

In fact, in addition to the former Secretary of State, Katie Couric and Cindy McCain will also speak at the event.

The conference runs October 26-27 in Long Beach.
