Kevin Bacon To Cook Up Trouble In ‘X-Men: First Class’

Kevin Bacon is about to bring six degrees of villainy to “X-Men: First Class.”

The actor has signed on as a to-be-announced nemesis for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming superhero film, which follows the team during their younger days, according to Variety.

The trade mag further reported that actress Jennifer Lawrence will play Mystique, a part taken by Rebecca Romijn in the original “X-Men” trilogy.

The film’s cast continues to come together. Previously announced and reported stars include James McAvoy (as Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alice Eve (Emma Frost) and new dad Aaron Johnson, who The Hollywood Reporter says will play Cyclops.

“Kick-Ass” helmer Matthew Vaughn is set to direct the film, which is scheduled for June 3, 2011.
