Khloe Kardashian Says She’s ‘Always Loved’ Lamar Odom: ‘That Will Never Change’

Khloe Kardashian admits it’s a bit odd to be doing a book tour at the moment.

The reality star appeared on
Friday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to discuss her new memoir,
“Strong Looks Better Naked,” but admitted that her priorities may
have shifted since her estranged husband Lamar Odom was hospitalized last
month.

“It’s really awkward to be
promoting a book,” the 31-year-old said, explaining that her “press
time” had been scheduled before Lamar’s medical troubles started.

“My heart and mind are in the
hospital with somebody else,” she added.

Khloe has spent much of her time
at Lamar’s bedside since he was found unresponsive at a legal Nevada brothel on
Oct. 13. The former NBA superstar was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in
Los Angeles a few days later and has been making steady progress, but Khloe
said he still “has such a long way to go.”

While the basketball icon is
“off all machines that help his organs,” Khloe told Ellen he’s also
“learning how to walk again and feed himself again.”

In addition, Khloe said, Lamar is
also reformulating his speech patterns and memories.

“Every day is different.
Sometimes he knows who the President is, or his birthday,” she told Ellen,
joking, “And then other times, he thinks he’s 26 and I said, ‘I bet you
wish you were 26!'”

Despite his struggles to
communicate, Khloe said she believes Lamar is able to process his situation.

“He couldn’t put a lot of
words together today. But he understands,” she said.

Ellen then turned the conversation
toward the unconventional circumstances surrounding Khloe and Lamar’s current
status.

The pair filed for divorce in 2013
and signed papers this past July, but then halted proceedings in the midst of Lamar’s
recovery. Khloe said the decision was purely out of respect and doesn’t affect
other aspects of their lives.

“I’m there helping him and I
love him and I’ve always loved him. And that will never change and I just feel
like it’s a really insensitive thing to fast forward a divorce,” Khloe
said.

“He’s a fantastic person who
deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side and for me I’m that
to him,” she continued, expressing gratitude for her own support system,
including boyfriend and Houston Rockets player James Harden.

“Thank God I have a fantastic
family who loves me and loves [Lamar] just as much. And they’re so supportive
and they’re with me and I have a great boyfriend who’s understanding,”
Khloe said.

As for how James has dealt with
Khloe’s focus on Lamar, she told Ellen that they’ve both had to work on staying
open-minded and compassionate.

“It’s definitely a very
unique situation, to say the least. Yeah he’s fine with it,” Khloe
said.  “I mean we have to communicate a lot. And he’s really
supportive and great.”

The “Kocktails With
Khloe” host then pointed out a potentially simpler way to consider the
situation.

“I’m just going to say I’m like
part of Polygamy now. I have a husband. I have a boyfriend. That’s a way easier
thing to say, right?” she asked.

Ellen then reminded Khloe that
she’d have to “marry her boyfriend first” before being able to
officially consider herself a polygamist, a notion which Khloe jokingly mulled
over.

“Oh, I’m not there yet,”
she mused.
