Kim & Khloe Kardashian’s Digital Death Continues As Stars Struggle To Reach $1 Million For AIDS Related Causes

More than a dozen celebrities have been prohibited from Tweeting and Facebooking for three days (and counting), the result of failing to meet their Digital Death $1 million fundraising target in honor of World AIDS Day.

Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, the cast of MTV’s “The Buried Life” and more, signed on to Alicia Keys’ Keep a Child Alive’s Digital Death campaign, for which they promised to end their digital life until $1 million was raised to help those afflicted by the disease in Africa and India.

The campaign began on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, but as of Friday evening, just $200,674 had been raised – roughly $66,891 for each of the three days since the campaign started.

If donations continue at the current rate, it will take another 11 days of silence from the stars to reach the full amount in donations.

While the celebs promised not to Tweet or Facebook, there has indeed been activity on some their accounts. Unknown parties have Tweeted messages about how to donate to the cause from most of the celebs’ Twitter pages.

Since her Dec. 1 Digital Death, Alicia Keys has had six Tweets about the campaign posted to her page, the same amount as Jay Sean.

Alicia’s husband, Swizz Beatz, and Lady Gaga have each had five Tweets posted to their account – all about the campaign — while Janelle Monae and Khloe Kardashian have each had four Tweets come from their accounts.

Ryan Seacrest, Kim Kardashian, Justin Timberlake and Elijah Wood have each had just two campaign related Tweets, while not a single post has been placed on Usher’s account.
