Kirstie Alley: Why I Planted A Big Kiss On Dancing’s Tom Bergeron

Kirstie Alley planted a big kiss on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” co-host Tom Bergeron on Monday night’s show, and she told Access Hollywood what prompted the lip-lock surprise.

“He deserved it,” Kirstie told Access following Tuesday’s “DWTS” elimination show (where Pamela Anderson and her professional partner, Tristan MacManus were sent home). “Women like powerful men. Just saying.”

Tom picked up an Emmy for hosting “DWTS” on Sunday night and Kirstie was motivated by his big win.

“He should have won many more Emmys before that. He was sort of the Ted Danson of, what do they call it? Spokespeople? TV Spokesmen? He’s the Ted Danson of that,” Kirstie said, referencing her former “Cheers” co-star. “Finally, he wins his Emmy and gets his just desserts.”

On Tuesday, Kirstie and her “DWTS” partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy had to wait until close to the end of the show before they learned they were safe. Backstage, she admitted the wait to find out their status was painful.

“It was a little nerve-wracking. You’re nervous, you have no idea, especially because this is the ‘All-Star’ season, you really have no idea what’s happening,” she explained. “When you have this many people who are this good? You know, it’s not like it was in the other seasons because you’d have, I don’t know, five or six people that weren’t so swell.”

Kirstie and Maks will tackle the jive next week and the pair revealed they just might have some surprises in store.

“We get… I want a few props. I don’t think we’ve ever used a prop,” Kirstie said. “I want a prop!”

“We have a few props. We’re just gonna you know, build,” Maks added.

“But, simple props,” Kirstie added.

“We asked for an Eiffel Tower. We’re gonna have like a French theme, just to piss Gilles [Marini, who hails from France] off a little bit,” Maks laughed. “See if we can do French better than Frenchman.”

“Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” continues next Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
