Kristen Bell wasted no time getting her wedding plans back on track following the Supreme Court’s ruling on DOMA and Prop 8 on Wednesday.
The actress, who has been engaged to Dax Shepard since 2010 but vowed to postpone their wedding until marriage equality became a reality, took to Twitter to re-propose to her fiance.
“@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove,” she Tweeted, moments after the decision was announced.
Dax enthusiastically responded with, “F**k Yes!!!!!!!!!!!”
“DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead,” Dax added. “Now let’s bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!”
The couple, who began dating in 2007 and welcomed baby girl Lincoln in March, have been very vocal regarding their commitment to marriage equality.
In a February 2012 interview with The Advocate, Kristen explained their decision to hold off on tying the knot.
“The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends,” she told the mag at the time. “That’s why we’ve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”
