Kristen Stewart To Bite Into Joan Jett

A “Twilight” star loves rock ‘n’ roll.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella in the box office-topping vampire drama, has signed on to play iconic rocker Joan Jett in the film “The Runaways,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is a biopic of the 1970s all-female band, where Joan got her start before rising to greater fame with hits such as “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”

What began as a 1975 novelty act – teenage girls in leather – organized by impresario Kim Fowley, quickly became a serious musical force, becoming the first all-girl act to go platinum. They lasted four years and produced songs such as “Born To Be Bad” and “Cherry Bomb,” which has lived on in movie soundtracks from “Dazed and Confused” to “Detroit Rock City.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will go into production in 2009, working around the planned first quarter filming of the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon.”
