“The Hills” may be a reality show, but according to a new statement from leading lady Kristin Cavallari, there’s not too much real about it.
“Nothing you see on TV is real,” Kristin told People in an interview.
“Fans need to understand it’s all entertainment. It’s all in fun. I would never put my close friends or a real relationship on a show,” she continued.
Interestingly, on Tuesday, the day of the show’s series finale, fellow castmate Stephanie Pratt told a conflicting tale.
“Nothing was really set up in advance,” Stephanie told Fancast.com.
“It was all pretty real, like, this is kind of like what’s going on. There’s nothing except for the drug rumors in the first couple episodes. Those were the only things that were kind of put on the show, just because it was all over the tabloids and we promised everyone we could make this the realest season ever,” Stephanie revealed.
Stephanie denies, however, that there is any truth to the bimbo persona she projects on screen.
“I’m just pretending to be dumb…I think it’s been really fun to play dumb.”
Despite Stephanie’s generous admissions, it’s unlikely that fans of the reality show will hear Kristin dish the dirt on its production secrets. The aspiring producer tells People that it’s because she wants to keep the magic of the show alive.
“I don’t want to disappoint the fans,” Kristin said. “I have such great fans, and I think a lot of them take the show seriously, and I don’t want to change their views. Besides, since I want to be a producer, I don’t want to give away any production secrets.”
Kristin does, however, admit that she is on good terms with on-screen rival Lauren Conrad, who left the show last season.
“I just saw Lauren on Saturday at “The Hills” wrap party. It was good to see her. When we see each other, we say hi and catch up a bit, “ she said.
Reality or not, the cast of “The Hills” agree that the series’ final episode, which airs Tuesday night, will be filled with drama and emotion.
I feel like we all ended on a high note, we all had a great time, and I plan to stay friends with pretty much everyone,” Kristin said.
It’s a sentiment with which castmate Audrina Patridge agrees.
“It’s our last season, so we’re going out with a bang,” Patridge recently told MTV News.
