Jessica Jones’ character was first introduced in the “Alias” comic book series by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos. After Jessica’s superpowers came to a tragic halt, she’s tasked with piecing her life back together and pursuing a career as a detective. She gets hired to investigate cases involving people bestowing extraordinary powers in the Big Apple, Marvel described of the plot.

“Krysten brings both the hard edge and the vulnerability the role demands,” Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said in a statement. “We can’t wait for fans to see her in action.”
