Lady Gaga, Cybill Shepherd, Lee Daniels Top SF GLAAD Media Awards

Lady Gaga, Cybill Shepherd and Lee Daniels came away winners at the final installment of the 21st Annual GLAAD Awards.

Cybill won the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ceremony, held on Saturday night at the Marriott Marquis and sponsored by Southwest Airlines, while “Precious” director Lee Daniels was given the Davidson/Valentini Award.

Lady Gaga was honored with the award for Outstanding Music Artist for her most recent album, “The Fame Monster,” for her efforts in promoting equality and increasing the visibility of the LGBT community.

Amongst the other awards were “Ask Not,” which won Outstanding Documentary; “The Stonewall Riots: 40 Years Later,” for Outstanding Digital Journalism – Multimedia; and Robert Hanson, president of Levi Strauss Americas, who earned the San Francisco Local Hero Award.

Previous awards were handed out in ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles earlier this year.
