Lawyer Cancels Press Conference With Tiger Woods’ Alleged Mistress; New Report Claims Payoff Being Worked Out

Rachel Uchitel, the woman who denied tabloid reports that she engaged in an affair with golf star Tiger Woods, will not hold a press conference on Thursday as had been previously scheduled.

Uchitel, who retained the services of famed attorney Gloria Allred not long after she was named by the National Enquirer as a mistress of the golfer’s, was set to appear at the news event at 11:30 AM in Los Angeles, but was not expected to speak.

However, in a statement released by Allred on Thursday morning, she announced the press conference was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

Allred had “no comment” when contacted by Access Hollywood over why she canceled the press conference, but a new report claims Uchitel is working out a deal for a payoff from Woods.

TMZ posted a story on Thursday morning claiming that Uchitel now says she was lying when she denied reports of an affair with Woods, in order to protect him.

And according to Radar Online, Uchitel is negotiating a payoff by Woods to keep quiet.

One source told the Web site the deal being worked out is worth $1 million. The site also reported Uchitel’s reps and Woods’ were in contact on Wednesday night.

Additionally, TMZ claimed that text messages between Woods and Uchitel prompted a fight at the golfer’s home on the morning of his car crash last week.

Around an hour before he drove his Escalade over a fire hydrant and hit a tree, Woods and Uchitel were texting, sources claimed to the site. The sources went on to claim that Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, confronted her husband over who he was texting and later grabbed the phone and called Uchitel.

On Wednesday, Woods admitted to “transgressions” in a statement on his official Web site and claimed he let his “family down.”
