Leah Remini Feeling ‘Safe’ At DWTS Following Split From Scientology

Leah Remini spoke out about her split from the Church of Scientology on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars,” and afterwards she told Access Hollywood she feels “safe” in the ballroom.

“I’m going through a personal and big change for me and my family,” the former “King of Queens” actress – who was with the church for 30 years – said in a taped segment.

“The church is looking for me to fail,” she continued. “So they can say, ‘Look what happens when you leave.’”

After Monday’s show, Access’ Shaun Robinson caught up with the actress, who scored 24/30 with pro partner Tony Dovolani, where Shaun asked if it was difficult for her to open up about her past with the church.

“To talk about it? No. I’m safe here,” Leah said.

“You seem extraordinarily happy,” Shaun said.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Leah continued.

“Like a new chapter.” Shaun added.

“That’s right!” the actress said.

On Tuesday, the Church of Scientology released a statement to “Good Morning America” about Leah.

“We know this may come as a surprise to someone as self-absorbed as Ms. Remini, but we could care less if she wins or loses on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” the statement read.
