Lena Dunham & Girls Stars Talk ‘Unbelievable’ Golden Globe Night

“Girls” star and creator Lena Dunham was still in shock following her big Golden Globes night, where she took home Best Actress in a Comedy series and her hit HBO series won Best Comedy series – something she could have never imagined.

”[The show] is our baby and it’s the most unbelievable gift to get to make it and this kind of recognition you never dream of. You hope, you know, 11 people will Tweet about it, and maybe HBO will let you go for one more season. It’s really unbelievable,” the 26-year-old told Billy Bush backstage at Sunday’s Golden Globe awards.

Even being at the ceremony was something Lena thought would never happen.

“We were all like, ‘It’s so weird that we’re here! We’re going to eat whatever they bring to the table and whisper a lot,’” she said with a laugh

Executive producer Judd Apatow told Billy he was moved by Lena’s film “Tiny Furniture,” and was inspired to come on board with the project – but that doesn’t mean he’s taken on a fatherly role to Lena.

“I generally, as Seth Rogen says, feel like a creepy uncle,” Judd said with a laugh.

And how was the cast going to celebrate their big win?

“I think we should just go out and have sex with the cast of ‘Homeland,’” Judd joked.

Earlier on Sunday night, Judd spoke to Billy about Season 2 of “Girls,” which premiered on Sunday night.

“The news season is great and shocking, so if you liked it, you’ll like it more, if you didn’t like it, I don’t know what to tell you!” he told Billy on the Globes red carpet.
