Lil Wayne Appears In Court On Drug, Weapons Charges

Rapper Lil Wayne has appeared in an Arizona court on drug possession and weapons charges.

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was ordered by a judge to attend Tuesday morning’s pretrial hearing.

His attorney says he told the Yuma County Superior Court judge that the U.S. Border Patrol hasn’t turned over records the defense requested months ago. The judge set another court date for Aug. 11.

Carter was arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 8 east of Yuma in January 2008 after authorities said they found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus.

He faces one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs and weapons misconduct.

Carter previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.
