Lily Collins Recounts ‘Mirror Mirror’ Hair-Pulling Incident: Julia Roberts Was Holding Strands Of My Hair

Lily Collins and Julia Roberts play Snow White and The (evil) Queen in “Mirror Mirror” and though the pair are real life pals, Lily says their on-screen battle took an accidentally-painful turn while filming a hair-pulling scene for the upcoming adventure/comedy.

“My shoe got caught in my dress, and I wasn’t as forward as I was in rehearsals, and [Julia] pulled with the same speed and distance,” Lily told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live. “It just took out some hair and they ended up using that shot in the movie and I didn’t want to wince or do anything because I knew they were going to keep rolling.

“Afterwards, she let go and there were like, strands of [my] hair [in her hand],” she continued. “She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry! I was just kind of like, in a daze.’ I was like, ‘It’s fine.’”

“You’re like, it’s Julia Roberts, she can do whatever she wants,” Kit added with a laugh.

“Exactly,” Lily agreed. “I never got into like, catfights, I never was a fighter, but if Julia’s my first hair pull, I think that’s a fine enough story for me to take.”

The 23-year-old beauty also dished on life with her father, legendary singer Phil Collins.

“Do you ever do the drum solo for ‘In the Air Tonight’ that everybody does? You know what I’m talking about?” Billy asked. “That’s a hot beginning.”

“If I did that I would probably just look ridiculous,” Lily answered with a laugh. “My little brothers and my older brother are amazing at drumming — that’s just not my thing.”

As for her favorite song by her dad, Lily said her choice may surprise some, but holds sentimental meaning.

“I’m going to have to pick a non-classic, but for me it’s the most touching — it’s ‘You’ll Be in My Heart’ from ‘Tarzan,’ because that was written [as] a lullaby for me,” she said. “So, everyone goes, ‘That’s not a classic.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, but to me, it’s one of the most memorable – like, I have most memories with that song.”

Catch Lily, Julia and Armie Hammer in “Mirror Mirror” – in theaters on Friday.
