Lily Collins To Star In Pride And Prejudice And Zombies

“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is officially undead!

The big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s mashup novel (which incorporates zombies into Jane Austen’s beloved 19th century classic) has been through a slew of ups and downs, but is now back in business with “Mirror Mirror” beauty Lily Collins set to star as Elizabeth Bennet, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

And, while the project had initially been courted by a host of directors, including David O. Russell (who penned the screenplay), Craig Gillespie and Mike White, it will be Burr Steers (best known for directing Zac Efron pics “Charlie St. Cloud” and “17 Again”) who will helm the project, THR reports.

Natalie Portman, who is one of the film’s producers, was initially set to star in “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” when the movie was originally proposed in 2009. Anne Hathaway and Scarlett Johansson were also rumored to have been considered for the lead role.

The film will be sold at the Cannes Film Festival, according to the trade mag.
