Lindsay Lohan On The Year Ahead: ‘Focus On Myself & My Work’

Lindsay Lohan has been making headlines lately for everything but her career as an actress – the 24-year-old, who is currently in the midst of 90-day rehab stint, is hoping the year ahead will be about her work.

“[In the upcoming year, I want] to focus on myself and my work and to move all press on me to focus on the work I do,” the actress told Maxim for its September issue, during an interview which took place mere days before her infamous courtroom appearance last month. “Also, I’d like to do more work in India and travel to Malawi.”

One project Lindsay is excited for is “Machete,” an upcoming Robert Rodriguez film in which she plays a gun-totting nun – at least, that’s whom her character appears to be, from the film’s trailer and posters.

“We filmed in Texas, and it was such a great, fulfilling experience. I play April, Jeff Fahey’s daughter, who is up against Robert De Niro. April is clever and witty and aspires to model,” she said of her character. “I get to kick ass. It was a whole new experience for me on a set. I want to do more action films!”

Lindsay told the mag she enjoyed co-starring with Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez, even though their busy schedules kept them apart.

“We all had different work schedules, but I know Jessica, and I think she’s a lovely, sweet girl, and hopefully we can do more work together,” she told the mag. “I love Michelle – she’s so talented and kick-ass!”

As for her advice for others dealing with adversity, the young star said that being comfortable with one’s life choices is key.

“Stay true to yourself always,” she explained. “At the end of the day, you have to look at yourself in the mirror and be content with the choices you’ve made, and will make, in your life. Go with your gut!”

In related Lindsay news, after previous reports that he had co-written a song for his daughter, “A Father’s Love,” Lindsay’s dad, Michael Lohan, will reportedly lay down vocals for the track as well now.

According to TMZ, Joe Vulpis, who co-wrote the lyrics and sang the original version, said Michael is planning on recording his own version of the song next week.
