Lindsay On Life After Rehab: ‘I Am Doing The Best I Can’

Fresh out of rehab, it appears Lindsay Lohan is in a talking mood, as InTouch Weekly scored Lindsay’s first post-rehab interview.

In an interview conducted on October 7, Lindsay spoke with InTouch about the lessons she has learned, the hardest part about rehab and what comes next for the 21-year-old actress.

So how will life be different now for Lindsay?

“The biggest thing is not being in LA and staying away from the nightlife. Going out all the time was very self-destructive,” Lindsay told InTouch. “But there are some things that I can do to make changes and grow up. I want to act like a woman rather than a teenager. I am doing the best I can.”

During her 63-day stint in rehab, Lindsay was anything but alone in Utah, as she was visited by her family on numerous occasions, including a highly publicized reunion with her estranged father Michael.

Lindsay told InTouch it was “wonderful” to have her family reunited. In fact, she said the rift amongst her family was partly to blame for her problems.

“I think the trouble in my family resulted in me rebelling and doing things to get my parents’ attention. But all in all, it’s better for me new to have them [in my life],” Lindsay said. “It’s healthy.”

And while Lindsay was often photographed out and about in Utah during her time at Cirque Lodge, rehab wasn’t all nature walks, pedicures and bike rides. Lindsay said it was a very much-needed departure from the privileged lifestyle the starlet had become accustomed to.

“It was hard surrendering and having people tell me what to do. It was really humbling for me, but I liked how I was treated as a normal person. I had to look out for myself,” she told InTouch. “It’s been a great experience. I’m really grateful. Everything happens for a reason and I am in the right place now.”

Yet even within the friendly confines of the Cirque Lodge, Lindsay couldn’t avoid tabloid scandal, as some publications claimed she was responsible for breaking up a fellow rehab patient’s marriage.

“Rumors are rumors. I don’t really have anything to say about that,” Lindsay said. “Tony [Allen] and I were just friends and if anyone has anything negative to say, I would just ask ‘Why?’ We were just friends and that was it.”

However, one report Lindsay did confirm was that she is now dating another fellow Cirque patient named Riley Giles, a native of Newport Beach, California. Although getting her to say much more about her new beau wasn’t easy, as InTouch found out.

“Yes, I am seeing someone. His name is Riley. I am really happy and taking it day by day,” she said.
But now that her rehab stay is complete, what comes next for Lindsay?

“I’m going to start filming a movie called ‘Dare To Love Me.’ That should last about two weeks. Then, I am going to spend time with my family,” Lindsay said. “I want to try something different, and do my job and see what that is like.”

And through it all, it appears Lindsay has used her mistakes and misfortune as a valuable learning experience – and an experience she is now willing to share with others. So what advice would the seemingly-wiser Lindsay like to share?

“Just to stay true to yourself and respect yourself. Don’t do things for the hell of it. Karma’s a big deal, so treat others how you want to be treated,” she noted.
