‘Lost’ & Found: Season Premiere! (October 4, 2006)

We’ve waited for nearly five months to get our first class seat back to the island.

Thank God that time has come.

Now I’m lucky enough to get a first glimpse at the season premiere. ABC sent out three different but very pivotal scenes and I have to say I think we are in for a whole new twist to the show.

If you’re like my colleague and big time “Lost” fan Tara Bernie and you don’t want to read any show spoilers then stop right where you are but if you need a quick fix–enjoy! Tonight’s episode is focusing on the kidnapped trio of Jack, Sawyer, and “Freckles”.

The biggest surprise is Kate’s breakfast on the beach! But first she’s getting an extreme fashion makeover! Yes, long gone are her soiled britches making way for a lovely sundress. “The Others” transform Kate for her “date” on the beautiful sand with the ultra creepy Henry Gale. Now last August when I was at the North Shore interviewing Evangeline Lilly and Michael Emerson they both told me about how excited they were about their first scenes together in the season three premiere. They didn’t over sell. Their banter explodes on the screen.

I’m still astonished this is Miss Lilly’s first big acting job. On the breakfast table sitting next to the scrambled eggs are a pair of handcuffs. Here’s just an example of Kate and Henry’s early morning conversation…. Henry Gale: ?I’m sorry I’m going to have to ask you to put those on Kate!? Kate: ?And if I don’t?? HG: ?Then you don’t get any coffee!” Just a reminder — this is the show that was shut out of last year?s Emmy race. It makes no sense.

We also find Jack waking up in a prison cell behind a wall of glass. But the most telling moment was Jack’s discovery that someone had taken blood from his arm. But for what?

In another part of the camp a bewildered Sawyer caged almost like he’s the star attraction at the island zoo but here’s the kicker — he’s not alone! Across the way from Sawyer a young man alone in his own cage warning the wise cracker not to fall for an alleged trick in his cage.

You’ll have to watch to see what I’m talking about but the mystery man warns…“I wouldn’t do that!” So, it begs the question are Sawyer and the rest of the gang nothing but human guinea pigs?

Tonight we say so long to the hatch and discover a new side to “The Others” and three new series regulars.

I’ll give you my take on the recruits tomorrow!
