MADD Pens Open Letter To LaBeouf; Mother Of Isabel Lucas Speaks Out Over Crash

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has issued an open letter to Shia LaBeouf in the wake of his car crash and subsequent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, this past weekend in Los Angeles.

“To protect the safety of his family and the citizens of his community, Mothers Against Drunk Driving calls on Shia LaBeouf to voluntarily install ignition interlock devices on all vehicles registered in his name, in addition to completing the official punishment/sanctions that may be levied in the event of his conviction for DUI,” the organization wrote in their letter.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, LaBeouf and his passenger, “Transformers 2” co-star Isabel Lucas, were involved in a collision in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Authorities now believe the second vehicle involved in the incident ran a red light as LaBeouf was attempting to make a left turn. The crash flipped the green Ford truck the actor was driving.

Following the crash, LaBeouf was hospitalized, where he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

In related news, Beatrice Lucas, the mother of Isabel, recently told Australia’s The Cairns Post her daughter was already back working, following the crash.

“There has been an enormous media thing with this in the States,” Beatrice Lucas told the paper. “From Isabel’s perspective, it was just a normal car accident… She’s back at work now.”

Though LaBeouf now faces a misdemeanor DUI charge for the incident, Beatrice Lucas told the paper she did not believe he was intoxicated.

“Isabel would not get into the car with someone she thought was drink-driving,” the actress’ mother said.
