Makeup Mondays: Holiday Beauty Inspiration (Glam Slam)

The invites have started to roll in for the holiday parties, and there is everything on the list from family get-togethers to fancy nights out. Looking fabulous — and appropriate — for each event is key. Kimberlee Aiello, Beauty Curator and Make-Up Artist for Beauty Collection shows how you can achieve the perfect transitional look from meeting the parents, to an office party, to a big New Year’s Bash!

The Family Dinner (natural glow with neutral tones):

Face: For a family dinner look I start with Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream with built in primer to eliminate the look of pores and keep the make-up on all day. Then, for all-around coverage use Smashbox High Definition Concealer to cover blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Eyes: My eye looks always start with a shadow primer, for this look it’s Toofaced Shadow Insurance. I line the lash line using Toofaced Perfect Eye Waterproof Eyeliner and finish it off with a touch of Smashbox Pure Exposure Mascara.

Lips: To create a clean line for the lipstick to follow I use Senna Lip Liner in Pure nude and then fill in the lip with Smashbox Legendary Lipstick in Cognac to polish off the look and have you ready to meet the parents!

Office Party Look (look festive with bright lips and cheeks):

Face: Now that you have light makeup, we just have to primp it up a bit to head to the office party! The best way to look fresh and vibrant is to add a little blush. For this office party look I use Smashbox Blush Rush in Passion right on the cheek bone.

Eyes: I use a tinted brow gel by Anastasia Beverly Hills and brush out the brows to make a very clean line for the brows. Use this year’s Smashbox Limited Edition Christmas palette to highlight right underneath the brow bone in pink shell and shadow the orbital bone in a purple shimmer.

New Year’s Eve Look /The Big Night Out (bold eyes, red lips and shimmer accents):

Face: For a New Year’s Eve look I build upon the complexion of the first look and add Senna Bronzer to create a stronger shadow beneath cheekbones and a lighter bronzer to bring color back onto the cheeks. I finish off the face with all over shimmer by Stila Kitten Shimmer to bring interest to the face and bring out bone structure in direct lighting.

Eyes: Focusing on the eyes, I use By Terry cafe noir to create shadow in her crease and over the top. I use Smashbox in a shimmery coco to create interest in the eye. Against the eyebrow I again used Pink Shell by Smashbox and a Toofaced eye pencil to add a light ladylike eyeliner. The final step? Lots and lots of mascara.

Lips: To polish off the look, go old Hollywood with a “Gorgeous Cosmetics” red lipstick in man trap!
