Maksim Chmerkovskiy Defends Himself Following ‘Dancing’ Rehearsal Clip Package

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and partner Melissa Gilbert aren’t happy with the clip package shown of what appeared to be a stormy rehearsal ahead of their competition dance on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Rehearsal frustration is something that everybody has and somehow I’m the only one who’s [being] portrayed that way,” Maks told Access Hollywood on Monday night, after the show.

“I know what I do,” Maks continued. “I feel like I have to defend myself, but I don’t want to because I have nothing to defend myself for.”

Melissa said the footage shown on Monday’s show isn’t a true representation of their hours and hours of rehearsal.

“If you know the packages are cut together and it makes him look abusive then it makes me look like a victim and I am so not a victim,” Melissa chimed in, defending her partner. “And we know who we are. It doesn’t matter. We laugh 90 percent of the time and it’s not just the laughter of the insane. It’s funny stuff.”

Maks said the pair tries to shrug off the clip packages and just get down the actual dancing.

“Let’s just put it [this] way – ‘It’s not in my control.’ The only thing we can control is the minute and a half, two minutes of dance and, and God knows she put in everything she had into this week and last week and I’m very proud of her,” Maks said.

“Dancing with the Stars” continues Tuesday night on ABC.
