Mariah Carey is finally heading to “Empire.”
Mariah will play Kitty, described by Fox as, “a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song.
“When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough,” per the network.

Mariah will appear on the Wed. Oct. 5 episode of the show’s third season, airing at 9 PM ET/PT on Fox.
The announcement was made on Monday at the Fox portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills.

Back in 2015, Lee Daniels, the show’s creator, told a crowd, as Mariah was being honored with a star on the Walk of Fame, that she would appear on the show.
Previously announced Season 3 guest stars include Taye Diggs and Sierra McClain (“A.N.T. Farm”), rapper French Montana and rapper/producer Birdman.
“Empire” returns to Fox on Wed., Sept. 21 at 9 PM ET/PT.
