Mariah Carey Talks Pregnancy Cravings, Nick Cannon Institutes High Heel Ban

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are months away from welcoming their first child together, and though he’s not a dad yet, Nick’s already in a parental mood.

Nick, who saw Mariah slip and fall on stage in Singapore in September – when he was the only person other than Mariah who knew she was in the early stages of pregnancy — has banned his wife from wearing high heels.

“I usually don’t get upset about things too much,” Nick told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush during the interview, in which the couple broke their pregnancy news exclusively. “She took a small little spill.”

“Which, by the way, so many people have much worse of a spill,” Mariah chimed in.

“But sitting across the world, seeing my wife on TV,” Nick said of seeing the clip from afar. “My pregnant wife… on TV… fall.

“And then even to see like you know, talk show hosts and different people making jokes about it and… all the commentaries and it’s like, that kind of rubbed me the wrong way,” Nick continued.

Nick went into action at home anyway, and instituted a high heel ban.

“I walk on my toes anyway,” Mariah said. “That’s just how I’ve always been, so I’m like, I don’t know how to wear a flat. How am I going to wear a flat? It doesn’t work.”

Mariah and Nick don’t yet know if they are expecting a boy or a girl, but if it does end up being a boy, Nick has one concern.

“I just want to make sure if I do have a boy… we’re going to have to get him into like boxing classes,” Nick said. “And hang out with me a lot earlier, ‘cause I can’t have my son…”

“What are you afraid of? He’s going to sing? Is that what it is?” Mariah laughed.

Like most pregnant women, Mariah is having cravings, and she told Billy they are of the bubbly variety.

“What do I even like? Just the little black cherry soda and cream soda,” she said.

She’s also having some morning sickness, though it doesn’t come at any particular time of day.

“I have like a constant, ‘Ugh,’” Mariah told Billy.

While she’s gearing up for baby, Mariah is also gearing up for the holidays, dropping her new CD on Tuesday – “Merry Christmas Two You.”

Her last Christmas album is one of the best selling, having sold 12 million copies.

“I feel like musically this album is definitely up a couple of notches from the first Christmas album, but there was definitely a magic to that first album and I wanted to recreate that,” Mariah said.
