Marie Osmond Spokeswoman Says No Suicide Attempt

SALT LAKE CITY (August 3, 2006) — A spokeswoman for Marie Osmond is denying reports the singer attempted suicide.

Amy Hawkes says Osmond was hospitalized last week after having a bad reaction to medication. Hawkes says Osmond “blacked out” from the medication and spent a couple of days at a Utah medical center.

The National Enquirer reported Osmond’s hospitalization was a result of a failed suicide attempt.

Osmond’s manager says he gets tired of responding to tabloid reports. Karl Engemann says responding is “like punching Jell-O.” He declined to say what kind of medication Osmond was taking.

However, Hawkes says Osmond is now “doing fine” and is vacationing with her family.
