Mariska Hargitay On ‘SVU’ Set Looking Healthy

The first photos of Mariska Hargitay back on the set of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” have emerged.

Weeks after the actress suffered a partially collapsed lung, she was captured by cameras Wednesday, looking happy on the East Coast set.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, at the start of the year, Mariska, who plays Detective Olivia Benson on the hit NBC crime drama, was “sidelined with a pneumothorax (a partially collapsed lung),” her rep said at the time.

Her rep said that despite the injury, Mariska was expected to finish filming the rest of the episodes in this season’s “Law & Order: SVU.”

According to WebMD, pneumothorax occurs as a result of the “buildup of air in the space between the lung and the chest wall.”

It is often caused by a chest injury like a puncture wound or broken rib, but can occur without injury.

Treatment can include oxygen and observation by a doctor, while serious cases can require surgery.
