Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Secret To His ‘Franklin & Bash’ Nude Scenes: The ‘Junk Smuggler’

Mark-Paul Gosselaar plays a lady-loving lawyer on TNT’s “Franklin & Bash,” and given his character’s womanizing ways, the former “Saved by the Bell” heartthrob is often required to show off his goods while filming.

However, on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live, the 37-year-old actor revealed he recently fell victim to a complete wardrobe malfunction while filming a hot tub scene in the buff after the glue used to attach his “junk smuggler” to his, ahem, personal regions, failed.

“It’s top-stick. You literally just top-stick it to your thing, and that’s what you wear,” Mark-Paul told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover of the scant privacy cover. “That [was] a chlorinated hot tub, so it ate away the adhesive.

“So [during] take three, I stand up — and there [are] a hundred extras and the crew people [watching] – and, as [co-star] Breckin [Meyer] likes to say, it was ‘Screech, Slater and Mr. Belding,’” he continued, jokingly comparing his anatomy to three “Saved by the Bell” characters, while Billy and Kit roared with laughter. “They came out to play on the third take.”

The hot tub incident was not Mark-Paul’s first foray into on-screen nudity – he bared his backside for “NYPD Blue,” and also got down and dirty during a 2010 guest appearance on Showtime’s “Weeds.”

“What’s it like being naked in front of a hundred people?” Billy asked.

“It’s not comfortable,” Mark-Paul replied. “[In the hot tub scene] I didn’t have a dance partner. When I did ‘Weeds,’ I was with Mary Louise Parker and you get to hide behind someone else, and you’re doing it because you’re doing a love scene or whatever.

“This was just gratuitous and out there,” he added.

Catch Mark-Paul in all his glory in “Franklin & Bash” – Wednesdays at 9 PM on TNT.
