Mark Wahlberg On MTV Honor & ‘Transformers’ Hopes

Mark Wahlberg is set to receive the MTV Generation Award at the network’s upcoming MTV Movie Awards next month, and he has his own ideas about what the nod means.

“You know what that means? It means you’re really old. It means you’re old,” Mark told Access Hollywood as he hit Las Vegas’ CinemaCon on Monday, promoting “Transformers: Age of Extinction.”

“I’m embracing it. I never thought I’d make it this far,” Mark added.

Mark flies into theaters, fronting the new “Transformers” installment on June 17, and he explained to Access why he signed on to the project.

“I thought when Michael [Bay] approached me about it that it was a great opportunity to do something different,” Mark said. “I’m playing a dad, embracing the fact that I’m getting a little bit older, having a daughter who’s not quite a teenager yet, but knowing what that’s gonna be like.

“And, you know, it was a very different take… so I was really excited about it. I think it has a chance to be a lot bigger than the other ones and that’s obviously saying a lot, but I think we were really able to do something interesting with the characters and the story, and Michael really kind of took it to another level,” Mark added.

With “Transformers” in the bag, Mark is ready to move on to “Ted 2.”

“We starting shooting… [the] first week of June in Boston,” Mark said. “I’m excited about that. Just finished ‘The Gambler,’ at Paramount, so we’ll do ‘Ted 2’ and have some time back in Boston for the summer with my family, which will be nice”
