Matt Damon Talks Death Rumors, ‘Bourne 4’ And ‘Parading’ His ‘Informant!’ Belly

Matt Damon is still alive, despite rumors to the contrary.

“I’m fine,” he told Access Hollywood on Friday, disputing an online report from earlier in the week. “I guess that’s somebody’s idea of a joke. I called my parents and my brother… It’s just reckless. I know it happened to [George] Clooney a couple years ago.”

However, Matt played a joke of his own on George, admitting that he’d helped fuel a rumor of Brad Pitt’s that their “Ocean’s” series co-star had a gay lover – a story that resulted in a gay fan taking off his clothes for Clooney at the Venice Film Festival earlier this week. In a moment captured on YouTube, the fan said, “May I kiss you, please. Just one kiss?”

“Brad started it!” Matt told Access. “I piled on. It was funny, it worked. I e-mailed [George], ‘Sorry about that, sorry to ruin your festival.’”

Matt’s funnier side is evident in his new film, Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant!,” for which the star gained 30 pounds – a change his wife, Luciana, didn’t mind.

“My wife liked it!” Matt said. “I liked parading around the house with my belly hanging out. We had fun with it.”

Less fun, he said, was working the weight back off.

“[It took] a lot of exercise and watching what I ate,” he said. “It just sucked.”

Now that he’s back in fighting form, is Matt ready for another turn as Jason Bourne?

“We want to do ‘Bourne 4,’” Matt said. “We don’t have the script yet. Hopefully we’ll be shooting in 18 months or so.”
