Maura Tierney Lines Up Major Role In Jerry Bruckheimer Law Series

Less than a year after dropping out of NBC’s “Parenthood” as she battled breast cancer, Maura Tierney has signed on to star in a new legal drama from Jerry Bruckheimer.

The former “ER” star will play Kathryn Peale, a deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in ABC’s “The Whole Truth,” set to premiere this fall on the network.

The series will look at cases from both sides – the prosecution and defense. Rob Morrow formerly of CBS’ “Numb3rs” will play Jimmy Brogan, Kathryn’s pal from law school, who she’ll square off with each week.

Maura also recently filmed a guest spot on the Denis Leary-fronted series “Rescue Me,” playing his love interest. Those episodes will air in 2011 on FX.

The actress dropped out of the Ron Howard produced “Parenthood” last fall as she battled breast cancer. Lauren Graham, formerly of “Gilmore Girls” later took over the part.

Maura has since completed treatment for the disease and in April, her rep said that the actress was “happy to move forward with the next phase of her life.”
