Maureen McCormick’s Private Pain

“It’s awful,” Marcia tells Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. “I’ve been going through hell for three years.”

Maureen McCormick, shares with Access the private pain she claims has been caused by her brother’s attempt to alienate their father from the rest of the family. His attack on Maureen, she says has been highly personal.

“He is accusing me of being a sociopathological liar, of stealing my dad’s retirement money, of elder abuse, of being a drug addict,” Maureen tells Access. “He’s basically said that he wants to destroy me.”

As in many family disputes, money seems to be at the heart of this one.

“My mom and dad had put a trust together before my mom died. And my brother came to me and he said ‘unless you sign this piece of paper saying you are mentally unfit, I’m going to take you down and I’m going to ruin your career,’” she says.

Once a close-knit family, Maureen tells Access, Kevin no longer permits 85-year-old Richard McCormick to see or speak to her.

“He’s just taken him, I think, for the whole family trust he wants it all himself,” she says.

“Dad has some money?,” Billy asks.

“Yeah,” Maureen answers.

Maureen tried reaching out to her dad, confronting him and Kevin outside this restaurant. Richard McCormick responded by going to court and asking for a restraining order against Maureen, claiming elder abuse. The case will be heard on May 31.

Access Hollywood contacted Richard who declined our interview request. Calls to Kevin McCormick went unanswered.

“I just really believe that something good is going to come out of all this. I have to believe that,” she sighs. “Never in a million years would I have thought that this was happening to my family.”
