McPhee Rejoins Fellow ‘Idols’ On Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 28, 2006) — Katharine McPhee is back on track with vocal chords intact as she proved Thursday while she sat in with the ladies of ?The View.?

After the show she told us she was off to finally join the ?Idol? tour after missing the first three weeks due to throat problems.

?We are literally going from a plane here to Pittsburgh and I am going to see all of them very quickly,? Katharine told Access.

Well not so fast.

Katharine missed Thursday night?s ?Idol? concert. Her publicist told Access that her flight was delayed due to weather. Once Katharine knew she was going to miss the show, she jumped off the plane and into a car, where she headed off to Washington, D.C.

Katharine met up with her fellow ?Idol? companions on Capitol Hill for a meeting with the President on Friday afternoon.

But for a group known for singing and talking back to Simon Cowell, the ten ?Idol? finalists were strangely quiet when it came to talking to reporters at the White House.

They were invited by Laura Bush’s press secretary, because she was Taylor Hicks’ ninth grade English teacher.

The ?Idol? finalists got their pictures taken with the president in the Oval Office, and reporters hoped they’d say a few words afterward. But after more than a half-hour reporters gave up when nobody showed.

After he was done with the ?Idols,? it was off to more official business for President Bush as he met with Prime Minister Tony Blair.

As for Katharine, she is set to perform on Friday night in D.C.
