Meet ‘The Biggest Loser’s’ New Trainers

Jillian Michaels is leaving “The Biggest Loser” at the end of the season and on Tuesday’s show, the two trainers that are replacing her and joining the franchise were unveiled.

Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel are the new additions to the training staff, ready to compete with trainer Bob Harper, and help get contestants into shape.

Brett, who has helped train Victoria’s Secret supermodels, brings to the show his martial arts experience, especially in the Afro-Brazilian capoeira and Muay Thai kickboxing.

The New York-based lifestyle expert is known for creating the popular RevAbs fitness program.

Like Jillian, Brett has his own story of being overweight in his youth. Between the ages of 11 and 15, he was up to 50 lbs. overweight. He lost the weight between freshman and sophomore years of high school after playing football, wrestling and lacrosse.

“These struggles have shaped who I am and are why I ended up in this career,” Brett said in a release. “They also have helped me better relate to the contestants, and build their trust and respect because they know I went through it and came out on top on the other side.”

Meanwhile, Cara brings some major skills from inside the ring to “The Biggest Loser.”

Born and raised in New York, Cara began boxing as a 5-year-old and eventually ended up ranked, at one point, as the No. 2 female boxer in the nation by USA Boxing.

Cara has seen first hand struggles with obesity, as her father was obese, and died when she was a teenager. With her mother gone too (she died in a car accident four years ago), Cara also takes care of an aunt who is obese, and her little brothers.

“Boxing competitively taught me how important it is to never give up, no matter how hard it gets,” she said in a release.

With her boxing background and accolades including two Golden Gloves titles, she hopes to help “The Biggest Loser” contenders find “their warrior within.”

“The Biggest Loser” airs Tuesdays on NBC at 8 PM.

Catch Brett and Cara on Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday morning with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.
