Megan Hilty: I Got My ‘Tramp Stamp’ Updated During Sound Of Music Live

Small screen star and Broadway vet Megan Hilty wasn’t about to miss NBC’s “The Sound of Music Live!” broadcast – but due to a longer-than-anticipated inking, the actress watched Carrie Underwood’s big debut from an unlikely venue!

The former “Smash” star, who can now be seen on “Sean Saves the World,” stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Thursday and explained why she watched the musical hit from a tattoo parlor.

“I got my tramp stamp when I was 18 and thought I knew everything, and I just wanted to update it,” Megan told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday, of how she ended up hearing Carrie’s version of “Edelweiss” while getting inked. “It ended up being like a full-on back tattoo now!

“So I was in this tattoo parlor when ‘Sound of Music’ was [on], so we got the guy at the tattoo parlor to turn on ‘Sound of Music,’ so everyone was watching Carrie Underwood and Laura Benanti and Audra MacDonald with us,” she added.

The singer/actress said that though she got the tattoo (of a sun on her lower back) when she was just 18, it wasn’t an impulsive move.

“I’d wanted it since I’d 16, I planned it. I went by myself. It was very planned and calculated,” she said.

“I’ve just grown a little since then, so I wanted to change it,” she added, laughing.

“Sean Saves The World” airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.
