Mehcad Brooks knows what Manti Te’o is going through – the “Necessary Roughness” star revealed he’s also been “catfished.”
On Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live, the actor told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover about the time he was the victim of an online hoax.
“I got ‘catfished,’” he said.
“A hot girl?” Billy asked.
“No, some other stuff, some friendship stuff,” he explained. “It went on for a long time and it was believable… They tried to convince me that they were someone they weren’t for a very long time, to me and my friends.”
Adding, “I’m not a dumb guy and I was duped.”
As for the Notre Dame linebacker’s scandal, Mehcad said he feels for all of the concerned parties.
“I don’t think somebody is your girlfriend unless you meet them. I just kind of feel bad for everybody involved,” he said.
The “Necessary Roughness” mid-season premiere airs tonight, Jan. 23 at 10/9c on USA Network.
