Mel Gibson In Car Crash; No Drugs Or Alcohol Involved

Mel Gibson was involved in a car crash on Sunday night, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The actor was driving a 2008 Maserati on Malibu Canyon Road in Malibu, Calif., on Sunday at 8:50 PM when the accident occurred, California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Leland Tang told Access.

“For unknown reasons, Mr. Gibson steered his car to the right and struck the rock hillside. He stopped his car at the scene and was contacted by officers from the West Valley CHP Area,” according to the CHP report.

Officer Tang told Access no drugs or alcohol were involved and there were no injuries. Mel was alone at the time.

Officer Tang also told Access that there were no witnesses and the actor’s car was towed following the crash.

A rep for Gibson told Access in a statement, “He’s fine.”
